Obituary

LYNN – Mr. Butch Dyer Jr. 52 of Lynn, beloved husband of Than (Vongsy) Dyer, died October 4, 2019 at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Beverly, he was the son of Butch Sr. and Ruthanne (Plummer) Dyer. He was raised and educated on the North Shore and attended schools in Beverly, Peabody, Salem and Lynn.

Butch was a mechanical genius and could fix almost anything when it came to automobiles. He had the gift of expert ear and just by listening to your car he could immediately tell you what needed to be fixed. He was greatly talented in his professional career.

A loving husband, father and grandfather, butch was devoted to his family. He enjoyed the challenge of taking something apart and putting it back together, especially engines. He was a thirty-year resident of the City of Lynn and enjoyed spending his time fishing. The day he became a grandfather, had a profound impact on Butch. He was the ultimate papa to his beloved granddaughters, always doding on them. He was a devoted husband, father, son, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed.

Butch is survived by his loving wife of 16 years and partner of over 30 years, Than (Vongsy) Dyer of Lynn, his sons, Boo Vongsy and his wife Linna of Houston, Michael Vongsy-Dyer of Lynn and Butch Vongsy-Dyer of Gloucester, his parents, Butch Sr. and Ruthanne (Plummer) Dyer of Kentucky, his granddaughters, Jayla, Tiana and Amaya, his sisters, Dawne, Kim, Hazel, Linda and Shirley, his brothers, Jimmy, Allen, Billy and Kenny and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
